Synopsis: The sequel to the international hit, The Only Exception.

A boy burdened with a family legacy.
A girl haunted by a shattered past.
Both searching for answers to a future threatened by the unknown.

Three years ago, conservative Trey Chapman and liberal Monica Remy met their match in one another - and made the only exception that would change their lives forever.

Now, Trey's father is running for president, forcing Trey and Monica to put aside their personal beliefs to be the model of perfection.

But fate has other ideas, casting the family in scandal.

Some seek to use that disgrace to further their family legacy, while others refuse to let go of the past. Trey and Monica soon find themselves lost among questions that challenge their true feelings. Will they be able to rediscover that the only answer lies with one another, or will they lose each other forever?

Review: 4 Stars - The Only Answer by author Magan Vernon is the sequel, which takes place three years after the end of the first title, to The Only Exception. This one follows politically conservative Trey and liberal Monica in the next stages of their relationship.

One thing that I love about these two books and characters is that with how different Trey and Monica are from one another, they work. I always love the whole opposites attract and Vernon has taken it and went beyond with her characters, their story and each of their backgrounds. The work well because they push each other, makes each other question what they believe and in turn see things in a different light when they might not have otherwise.

Vernon writes some great sparring scenes between these two and I love watching them banter back and forth. It’s one of the things I was most looking forward to in this second book.

What I didn’t except was half of what happened. There were some twists that Vernon had up her selves and WOW. I was blindsided a couple of times, was extremely frustrated a few times and wanted to scream many other times while reading.

These two are facing more than their fare share of troubles and obstacles and nothing is ever easy when you are part of a family whose father is running for president, so when things begin to crumble around them everyone was faced with making some hard choices. You can’t help but feel so horrible for them. The stress they were dealing with comes right off the page and you feel it right along with the characters.

Another thing that I loved was having a chance to spend some time with another one of the Chapman brothers and yeah… and I got the feeling he’s going to be filled with some surprises of his own. I can’t wait!

I’ve enjoyed each of the titles by this author that I’ve read in the past and this was another one that was well written and filled with characters I was happy to spend some additional time with. The secondary characters that were sprinkled throughout can be found in other titles from this author which is another huge plus! I loved getting to see so many characters that I’ve enjoyed in the past have a chance to make even a small appearance in this book. I know readers will enjoy this contemporary title, which I recommend. While this can be read as a standalone I believe you should check out the first installment – The Only Exception first to get a better idea how these two characters work. It’s great to see how they met and what makes them tick.

As this title does have mentions of drinking, drugs and sex it is intended for older readers. Enjoy!
